I painted (the original painting) for Kenny Loggins -- to honor his
art, his talent, his vision and his song "Conviction of the Heart" -- The original painting ("acrylic on canvas)
was given to Kenny when we met at a concert, August 5, 2007. Kenny Loggins & Jimmy Messina opened for my dad, Delaney
Bramlett (Delaney & Bonnie & Friends) - Carnegie Hall 1972.
About
this piece:
The
child is holding close to her heart a fish, an apple, and a bird representing water, earth, and air. She represents us as
children, our innocence, needing to be guided and loved. We need to first learn how, then teach them what it means to be keepers
of the Earth. The child running on the sheet music is meant to communicate the importance of instilling art as a foundation
for the spiritual growth of our children and that our children should be able to run into their unknown feeling confident
and loved.
The moon is reminding us to look to the ancient ones for wisdom and guidance.
The sky is tumultuous which represents
change ...
But know that the healing rain will come.

This Is Me When I Can’t Paint
Acrylic on canvas
Inspired by my friend.
At this point in my life I was feeling most disconnected
Was trying
to “feel “ my way through it all...
But only
feeling angry and sad and broken.
I tried to paint
but the brush wouldn’t move.
Feeling deep internal frustration.
Every voice in my body screaming to be heard
but silenced in my own self-preserving hibernation.
As I expressed this to my friend, he asked me
“When was
the last time you just painted, Michele?”
So, that’s what I did.
I “just painted” and it
began an opening
of my heart.
I am meeting me for the first time once again.
So, this was me when I
couldn’t paint.
